Those who are successful in the workplace are usually those with a lot of drive and determination. These are the people who are motivated to work. Every person who works has a different reason for working. While most people do work for money, many others work because they love their jobs and because they want a sense of fulfillment. Others work because they want to help others or to be recognized for their accomplishments, or to feel accomplished in a certain field. There are lots of reasons why people are motivated to work. People work because they are motivated by certain reasons.
Personal motivation is an inside job. Others can help (if you let them), but you are ultimately responsible for your own happiness. As Abe Lincoln reportedly said, “People are about as happy as they make up their mind to be.” So make up your mind that you will be happy, that you will be excited, that you will be motivated, that you will be “UP” no matter what is going on around you.
Our own personal pumps must be primed every day, lest they run dry. How do you prime your personal pump? There are several ways, such as:
* Read some inspirational story or quote each morning.
* Listen to motivational tapes on the way to work.
* Laugh, laugh, laugh…
A personalized screen saver for your computer screen can be an effective reminder for you. Here are some ideas:
* “Carpe Diem” (Seize the Day)
* “If it is going to be, it is up to me.”
* “Kites rise highest against the wind.”
* “Whatever you can do or dream that you can, begin it. BOLDNESS has genius, power and magic in it.”
The most effective way to stay motivated is through CONTINUOUS SELF TALK. Nothing motivates a person more than hearing positive motivational words in their inner and outer ears. That’s the secret.
If you keep telling yourself “I am motivated and excited, at the top of my game”. Soon you will be.

So my message to you is this. If you want to really excel in the workplace, here’s my advice; achieve a level of motivation that exceeds everyone else around you and maintain it consistently and before long you will be recognized and abundantly rewarded. Guaranteed!
